Types and Token

According to Charles Sanders Peirce the 26 letters were the ‘Types’ and the each time these are written in order to form something, 26 new tokens are created. The concept here means the total number of words used (Tokens) and the count of different words used ignoring repetition.

The types are separated from the tokens with the help of the type and token distinction. Further we get to know about the a particular event i.e. sound gesture or object that acts as a sign and its 3 types. First in which there maybe any number of tokens. Second where there is a quality of material uniqueness and third where the type and token are identical.

The Theseus Paradox

Lastly, the we get some piece of info on ‘The Theseus Paradox’ which deliberates on the opinion that an object remains the same or not when its components are replaced. According to some philosophers things may change but remain ‘qualitatively identical’ or ‘numerically identical.’
